About Me

I had the fortune, or misfortune, to be raised in a home where although we lacked very greatly in most things, we were not wanting for good books and music. Fortune because these were medicine for solitude and poverty at a young age. And misfortune because, this upbringing was to be my nemesis, and as many true authors would agree, being a writer were such great burden and sometimes malady which would only take writing to cure. In a word, I took to writing as drunkards to ale.

I was not originally born Efe Ronald Chesterfield. This is matter for another day. However, still on my childhood and influence into emerging a writer, as aforementioned, I grew up around antiquated books and music and many such influences which made you an old soul.

I say, for many of the literature which did beckon on me, I barely understood with my limited vocabulary and intellect. But there was so much I admired — from the style of the works to the smell of the old pages. I found that I was very much enamored of such authors as Charles Dickens, Daniel Defoe, Chinua Achebe, Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o. My fondness for these works faded after a while, but as they say, “true love rarely dies, and if it were sick, then dutiful Cupid shot it again, and it regained its health”. Years after, I found myself writing simply for the therapy of expressing myself. This I found very helpful till it became expedient that I shared my ideas with the world; thus myself becoming an author!
